June 14, 2011: Milford, Massachusetts – Sally Hathaway, Senior Vacation Consultant for Atlas Travel International, was one of 13 travel professionals who recently returned from an eight-day trip to Tahiti and its neighboring islands. The in-depth travel experience is part of the ongoing Ensemble Travel® Group South Pacific Specialist Program, designed to train select travel agents as leading destination specialists in their respective markets.
Ms. Hathaway was shown the stunning natural beauty in the beaches, waterfalls, and brilliant flora in Tahiti, including the traditional “Tiare Tahiti” flower presented to guests when coming and going. Tahitians are also eager to share their islands’ history, culture, and artistry with travelers, along with their native dances and songs, which are often accompanied by traditional instruments such as thunderous drums that beat to a Polynesian rhythm.
The peaceful, relaxed manner inherent among Tahitians is contagious. Although Tahiti is often considered a fitting setting for destination weddings and other romantic getaways, it is also the perfect place for a family vacation as many resorts specialize in children and teen programs. Thanks to the training provided during the trip, Ms. Hathaway can recommend the right resort for the right occasion.
“As a travel professional, our job is to research and experience as much as we can about a destination before we can effectively sell it to our clients,” said Ms. Hathaway. “My newly gained knowledge gives me an insider’s view of what my clients will experience when they visit these beautiful islands of the South Pacific.
“Atlas was able to participate in this in-depth experience because of our membership in Ensemble Travel Group, a leading international organization of approximately 850 professional travel agencies in the U.S. and Canada. Many of the unique and exclusive travel benefits that our clients enjoy are due to our affiliation with Ensemble Travel Group,” said Ms. Hathaway.
Among the hotels and resorts visited during the Tahiti trip were the Radisson Hotel Tahiti, The Intercontinental Tahiti Resort, Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort, The Intercontinental Moorea Resort, Moorea Pearl Resort & Spa, The Intercontinental Le Moana Resort, Le Maitai Polynesia Resort, St. Regis Bora Bora, Bora Bora Pearl Hotel, and Le Tahaa Island Resort & Spa. Activity highlights included a shark/ray snorkeling safari, Les Roulettes dining experience, and an in-depth exploration of the natural beauty and history of Tahiti led by local experts.
