Atlas Travel International’s Maureen Santoro Recognized as Top Meetings + Incentives Executive by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts: Invited to Join Customer Advisory Board

September 6, 2011 – Milford, Massachusetts – Maureen Santoro, CMP, Manager of Group Operations for Atlas Travel International’s Group Meetings and Incentives division, has joined the Fairmont, Raffles, and Swiss Hotels Incentive Customer Advisory Board. The Board is made up of approximately twenty high level executives from the top meeting and incentive companies in the world with the goal of providing the Fairmont organization with feedback on their venues and policies, and to gain knowledge from the collective expertise of Board members.

The 2011 Customary Advisory Board meeting took place August 18-20 at the Fairmont Banff Springs in Banff, Alberta, Canada. This was Ms. Santoro’s first meeting of her 3-year term. Board members are also required to participate in task forces and conference calls throughout the year.

“The experience was truly wonderful and I appreciated spending time with, and learning from industry colleagues,” she commented. “I felt that I was able to contribute valuable information that Fairmont will put into action within the coming months. I look forward to helping guide Farimont’s policies in future meetings and summits.”

Board members participated in hands-on exercises to give them a better understanding of the challenges involved in managing and running a corporate meeting from behind-the-scenes. For example, they became honorary chefs to learn the science and creativity that goes into planning and preparing banquet food for large corporate gatherings.

Participants were also treated to informative presentations by Fairmont personnel. The Board learned of the difficulties facing such destinations as Acapulco and the plans being put into place by the Mexican government to overcome concerns among the traveling public.

Fairmont introduced new team member Mark Cassier, recently appointed as Executive Director, Conference Services. Mr. Cassier will be standardizing convention services operations throughout the organization, to create a more cohesive and responsive team approach to conference services management.

Several key Fairmont partners and vendors co-sponsored and presented their services to the Board, including American Airlines, PSAV Presentation Services, and the Canadian Tourism Commission.
