Portland, OR – June 6, 2011 – Ya’lla Tours USA and Seawind Tours & Travel Honolulu teamed up to create “A Journey of Faith”, a once-in-a-lifetime visit to Israel and Egypt with the Roman Catholic Bishop of Honolulu, Larry Silva. This was one of the largest American tour groups to visit Egypt since the political unrest earlier this year and Bishop Silva’s first trip to Israel since he became Bishop. The group of 89 travelers left Honolulu for Israel on May 22 and traveled to important Christian sites around Israel and, for some, the trip extended into Egypt until June 5.
“This is definitely the largest group we have helped send to Egypt since the political climate changes there,” said Ronen Paldi, president of Ya’lla Tours USA. “We specialize in being able to create special and customized trips just like this one. It can be particularly important when travelers are visiting countries for religious purposes as the trip has a much deeper personal meaning for them.”
In Israel, the group visited all the major Christian sites such as the Sea of Galilee, the Church of the Beatitudes, Cana, the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth, the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, the Garden of Gethsemane and Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, the Way of the Cross and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The group has held Mass daily throughout the trip.
In Egypt, the travelers visited the Pyramids at Giza and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and on Sunday June 5, celebrated Mass with the Roman Catholic Cardinal of Egypt.
